New Code Windows and Doors Lends a Helping Hand in Southwest Florida

New Code Windows & Doors is proud to be a corporate citizen of good standing in Lee County and the Southwest Florida community at large. In keeping with The New Code tradition of taking care of our own; New Code donated $25,000 in hurricane resistant impact windows and doors to the  Gulf Coast Humane Society. Some of the Gulf Coast Humane Society Pre New Code windows wouldn't even shut, leading to break-ins and unnecessarily high energy bills. With New Code's hurricane resistant impact windows and doors, the Gulf Coast Humane Society is secure against intruders and the worst weather Southwestern Florida's unpredictable hurricane season can dish out.

If they could, the animals at the Gulf Coast Humane Society would say the biggest improvement from the New Code hurricane Windows and Doors' is air conditioning. Air conditioning was simply not an option with the previous, inefficient/OPEN windows the Gulf Coast Humane Society had in place. With New Code's energy efficient hurricane and impact resistant windows, the animals at the Gulf Coast Humane Society are living stylishly in secure comfort. Even if they don't appreciate their newfound hurricane protection, when Lee County's next storm hits, the animals at the Gulf Coast Humane Society will be glad and safe behind New Code's hurricane resistant impact windows.

In this video by NBC Channel 2 you will see New Code Windows & Doors' superstar hurricane and intruder resistant window installation team at work. We are proud to make the animals at the Gulf Coast Humane Society safer and more comfortable. The New Code team loves animals and we love Florida.  We really feel good about giving a helping hand to four-legged friends at the Gulf Coast Humane Society by installing state of the art hurricane resistant impact windows. New Code Windows & Doors hurricane resistant windows are the first step in the building improvement plan the Gulf Coast Humane Society will be undertaking over the next year, and are a great first step in any Southwest Florida home improvement protection project. New Code Windows & Doors is glad to make it possible for the Gulf Coast Humane Society to forget about hurricane shutters and let the sun light shine in!

Donation makes humane society storm ready

FORT MYERS: A big donation to the Gulf Coast Humane Society will help keep its animals more secure, cooler and prepared for a storm.

Bonita Springs FL window company New Code Windows and Doors will install new, storm-safe windows at no cost to the nonprofit organization. Typically, the labor and materials would run about $25,000.

"(The new windows) will drastically reduce our electric costs, secure the building for the animals, add protection," said Dan Barron, director of development. "So, we are just thrilled."

Some of the building's windows don't even close, which has allowed for a few break-ins and has resulted in high energy bills.

All this while capacity at the humane society is at a high.

"They're in bad shape. The existing windows are in bad shape," said New Code's Rob Hoovis.  "They were in dire need (of replacement)."

The donation will allow the humane society to get air conditioning for all the animals. Eventually it will establish a temporary shelter where you can drop off your pets in an emergency.

"They're hurricane proof. So that's going to make it a protective facility," Barron says.

The temporary boarding place probably won't be up and running for about a year.

But in the meantime, the animals there will now be a little cooler and safer.

"Eager to do it. Eager to donate their time and work for this," said Hoovis. "I'm an animal lover. The owner of the company is an animal lover. Seemed like a good thing to do."
It's just the first step of a long-term improvement plan that the society is taking, one step at a time, according to Barron.
